Sleep Better Snowball

By Betty White

Once upon a time there was a funny dog and her name was Snowball.

Snowball was a wise and, well a mature dog. Today she was sleepy and wanted to take a nap.

So like puppies do, she circled her bed once, twice….but just then along came SAGgy the hardworking bulldog

“Tell me joke, tell me joke, tell me a joke!” said SAGgy. Snowball has been friends with SAGgy her whole life – they were good friends.

So Snowball told her best jokes and SAGgy laughed and laughed and ran off to tell his friends…

So Snowball cicled once, twice…but Snickers the big chocolate lab came tromping along. Snickers had the biggest watering bowl around, everyone called it the SUPER BOWL.

He said to Snowball “let’s play ball, let’s play ball, let’s play ball” Snowball liked Snickers, so she went outside and they played ball. Snowball even fell down in the mud for a joke. Snickers laughed and laughed and ran off to tell his friends

Snowball washed herself off, it was getting late and she was very sleepy – she circled once, twice…but along came SAGgy and Snickers and a big pack of dogs from the neighborhood….

They all said “Snowball, it’s Saturday Night, please lead us in howling at the moon” – You see snowball had often been the top dog in all sorts of fun – but it had been a long time since everyone wanted her to lead the pack at howling at the moon.

“But I am so sleepy” and she circled once, twice…

“Please! Please! Please! – you are so funny and beautiful and we love you, PLEASE lead the pack tonight” – more and more dogs were joining in.

So, of course Snowball likes to sleep but she LOVES a good show. So she lead the pack in howling at the moon and the fun lasted all night long.

The next day Snowball was walking back to her house – she was very, very sleepy.

She circled once, twice…

Just then a big group of puppies gathered around her…”Please tell us a story, please tell as story…”

Snowball, took a deep breath… and she gathered the puppies around her doggy bed.

And she told a long…slow….story – in the story she said goodnight to everything in the room. The little puppies eyes grew heavy. She said goodnight to clocks and a hairbrush and the puppies eyes started to shut. She said “goodnight moon” and she whispered “hush”…

And she circled once, twice and three times and…do you know what happened next?

Snowball finally got to sleep.

I hope that SAGgy dog didn't get union scale for appearing in this story! And no residuals! Those non-union dogs worked just as hard and didn't have good craft services like SAGgy! :) A lovely tale Betty, sweet and clever much like you.
