Dream Bigger

And the top billing goes to …

I can stop being coy now. For weeks, mostly in person but also occasionally online, I’ve dropped hints about one of the participants in this project. I also promised in the first post here to answer the question, “Why Stephenville?” — but then let two weeks go by before doing so. It wasn’t that I get some strange thrill out of keeping a secret. It’s just that many an “i” needed to be dotted and many a “t” crossed. (Lawyers. Need I say more?)

But every drum roll, no matter how prolonged, eventually is followed by the crash of cymbals. Here it is: The primary reason Stephenville was selected as the site for this project was because Jewel lives here. She’s helping us out.-2

Jewel, of course, is the singer-songwriter whose life story is a testimony to the importance of following your dreams. She’s also someone who, early in her life, endured tough moments. She now lives near Stephenville, on a ranch with her husband Ty Murray, a champion rodeo rider. She’ll talk with me a couple of times about why dreams matter, and why they should be nourished. She’ll also host a gathering at the conclusion of this one-month residency in Stephenville, and do television appearances on behalf of the “Sleep Better, Dream Bigger” project.

Speaking of sleep (and this is no coincidence), did I mention Jewel also recently released a new CD called “Lullaby”? No? It’s her first-ever independently produced album. Perhaps I’ll learn that’s another dream fulfilled.

If you’ve got a question you’d like me to pose to Jewel, leave it as a comment. If I can ask it, I will.
