Babies Rob New Parents of Six Months of Sleep

It’s all worth it, of course, but new research indicates that new moms and dads lose the equivalent of six months of sleep in their first two years of parenthood.  A new survey indicates that the average new parent gets an average of four hours of uninterrupted sleep in the first two years of their baby’s life.  That’s one fewer than the minimum most people get sleep and still function somewhat normally.  Over the span of two years … that equals a lot of barely functioning days.

Some in the survey of 1,000 new parents lamented that they actually were only able to sleep for about 2.5 hours each night without being interrupted.
