Money can’t buy love, but maybe sleep
The headline on a recent Gallup poll was straightforward enough: “Rest eludes nearly 30% of Americans.” It’s hardly news, of course, that sleep comes more easily to some than to others. But it’s interesting to see exactly who’s got the best shot at a good night of shut-eye (old fogies) and who’s got the worst shot (people with, shall we say, unfulfilled income expectations). As Gallup summarized it:
The lowest income Americans, those aged 49 and younger, women, and those with children under the age of 18 in the household are among the groups most likely to say they were not well-rested yesterday — with one-third or more in each group saying so.
Americans aged 50 and older, those with the highest incomes, men, and those without children in the household are among those least likely to report not having felt well-rested — with each group coming in at or under the national average of 29%.
The Sleep Blogger, after studying the graphic below, can do even better.

If you’re wealthy male retiree with no children, you probably sleep like a baby. But if you’re a woman between 18 and 49 with children around the house and an income of less than $2,000 a month … well, let’s just say you probably have a personal stake in the Leno-vs.-Conan thing.
