SleepBetter.org Investigates: Fungus Among Us

Each fall, college students pack up and make the trek back to campus. Do you think they’ve ever stopped to wonder what’s living in the pillow they’ve loved since they were wee tots? We gathered 50 pillows and 9 mattress pads from college students around the U.S. and sent them to a third-party testing lab, to find out.

Our scientific study took samples and then cultured for the presence of viable bacteria, mold and yeast (which includes fungi) colonies. Check out the slideshow below (use the arrows to navigate through the slides) and then scroll down for more stats.  Also, be sure to visit our Sleep Research page to view the Infographics created from the study statistics. It’s quite revealing.
