Sleep Myth Monday: Seniors Sleep Less

This is the latest installment of a regular feature here at SleepBetter.org: Sleep Myth Monday, where we bust sleep myths wide open, or verify that they’re true.

Myth or Truth: As we get older, we need less sleep.

MYTH

Seniors typically don’t sleep as much as younger people, but it’s not because they don’t need it. Aches and pains associated with older age make it more difficult to sleep a full night. This is why firm and appropriate bedding is even more important for senior citizens.
