When you have questions about pillows and other bedding, Happy Dan the Pillow Man is your guy! He’s happy because he always gets a good night’s sleep. Happy Dan is the alter ego of Dan Schecter, Senior Vice President at Carpenter Co., and the creator of SleepBetter.org. He’s spent 30 years learning about pillows and sleep and how those two items go together, and he’s now available to answer your questions!
In this edition of Ask Happy Dan, Dan gives advice to two Susans who want to clean their pillows.
Susan R.: My down pillows are old and stained but still very comfortable. How can I freshen them up and/or clean them?
Susan J.: May I wash my pillow or dry clean it?
The best and only to help your tired pillows is to take them to a dry cleaner that specializes in cleaning leather. They know how to clean and fluff the down without removing any of its natural oils. With that said, we recommend replacing your pillow every 18 months, because lots of nasty things can grow inside of an old pillow. So says Happy Dan The Pillow Man!
