Try to be nice to the next police officer who pulls you over for speeding. He or she is probably very tired. A new study indicates that police officers may be the sleepiest workers in our society. The research, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, suggests that 40-percent of police officers have some type of sleep disorder. Of those, 34-percent have obstructive sleep apnea. Besides the many pressures of the job, those officers who were found to have sleep disorders also reported feeling burnout, depression, and sometimes falling asleep while driving.
