In this edition of Ask Happy Dan, Dan answers a question about snoring and side-sleeping.
Mary: My husband snores, and his snoring keeps me awake. What is the best pillow for him? I sleep on my side. What is the best pillow for me?
Thank you for your questions. I will assume sleep apnea is not an issue here, but I would certainly visit my doctor just to make sure. Usually a pillow with a higher crown will help somewhat, and the same holds true for folks that sleep on their side. There are any number of pillows out there that tout “side sleeper” but usually that is a bunch of hooey – yep HOOEY! They tend to be made of fiber and break down in a short period of time because a) there is not enough fill and b) if there is enough fill, the pillow is over packed and can feel hard. I do have a couple of recommendations, however. The Isotonic molded Side Sleeper or the ComfortTech Serene Side Sleeper pillows are high on the list. Also if you want something more adjustable we recommend the Beyond Down Side Sleeper with the 4-inch gusset. Good luck and go see your doctor about your husband’s snoring thing! So says Happy Dan The Pillow Man!
