Moms Admit to Drugging Kids to Sleep

A recent survey by NBC’s TODAY Show and Parenting.com uncovered a startling finding — that one in five moms responding to the survey admitted to drugging their children. The moms admitted they’d used medications like Benadryl to keep kids asleep or calm through special events such as plane rides. One in 12 responding moms, meanwhile, admitted to medicating their children to sleep just to get some peace and quiet.

The survey anonymously asked 26,000 moms about their secrets and confessions. NBC’s medical expert said she believes the one in five number is actually low, and that if parents are considering doing this, they should consult their doctor first.

One note about Benadryl: While it makes many children sleepy, it actually makes some children more energetic.
