According to new research, China has staked its claim as being one of the worst industrialized nations … for sleep.
In China, 38-percent of people suffer from various kinds of sleep problems, compared o the world average of 27-percent, according to the Chinese Sleep Research Society (CSRS). About one-third of people in the Asian country have suffered from insomnia (the most common sleep disorder) at least once. About 2 to 4 percent suffered sleep disordered breathing, including snoring, sleep apnea and upper airway resistance syndrome.
Researchers who conducted the study say the biggest problem is that few people see a doctor for sleeping problems, because they’re not aware that there may be treatments for the issue. There are 1,500 sleep centers in China, mostly concentrated in the larger cities.
