You’ve heard of sleep walking, and in the latest Ask Dr. Lisa we learned about sleep eating. But, there’s a new nighttime activity that has parents concerned: sleep texting.
It’s no secret that many young people are hooked on texting to keep in touch with their friends. But, doctors are finding that some teens aren’t even waking up to text. Although the notion of “sleep texting” may seem a little comical, doctors warn that this habit could be harmful because it disrupts the sleep cycle. According to a pediatric sleep psychologist, 20-percent of teens are awakened in the middle of the night due to a text, email, or phone call. This phenomenon of “sleep texting” has even become so popular that it has it’s own Facebook page committed to it.
