After being up late, the next day you are likely to be slow moving, feel fatigued, and yawn many times. But, a new study shows that yawning is not just from being tired. This recent study from Princeton University shows that yawning could actually be your body’s way of cooling your brain. During the research, 160 people from Arizona were studied for their yawning habits. The participants were split in half, and one half was observed in the winter and the other in the summer. It was found that half of the people yawned in the winter and only a quarter yawned in the summertime. The researchers hypothesize that the act of yawning is a actually working to cool the temperature of the brain.
