Two recent studies show that using a CPAP machine for treatment of sleep apnea may have more benefits than previously thought. These studies reveal that using at CPAP machine at night can reduce the user’s risk of hypertension and heart disease. In the first study of this kind, the participants who wore the CPAP machine for at least four hours each night were 28-percent less likely to develop hypertension, compared to those participants in the control group.
Overall, having sleep apnea puts you at a significantly higher risk for developing hypertension and heart disease, but the CPAP machine has been shown to both quiet snores as well as decrease risk of related diseases.
