happy-dan-graphic3

When you have questions about pillows and other bedding, Happy Dan the Pillow Man is your guy!  He’s happy because he always gets a good night’s sleep.  Happy Dan is the alter ego of Dan Schecter, Senior Vice President at Carpenter Co., and the creator of SleepBetter.org.  He’s spent 30 years learning about pillows and sleep and how those two items go together, and he’s now available to answer your questions!

In this edition of Ask Happy Dan, Dan gives advice to a hot sleeper.

Anthony: Why am I so sweaty when I wake up?

Thanks for your question, Anthony. You didn’t give me a lot to go on, so I’m going to assume that the reason you’re waking up sweaty is that you’re hot. The first thing I’d suggest is that you visit your doctor and discuss it with him or her. If your doctor gives you the “all clear” then it’s time to look at your sleep environment. If your room is too hot because you don’t have enough ventilation, then perhaps adding a fan would help. If your bedding is simply too heavy for the temperature in the room, then you might consider purchasing a lighter blanket. Finally, you might also consider purchasing products made from temperature-sensitive foam, like Iso-Cool. Products made with Iso-Cool foam include mattress toppers, mattress pads, and pillows. They’re designed to keep your body cool all night. So says Happy Dan, the Pillow Man!
