How to Adjust Your Body Clock

There’s a great article on WashingtonPost.com today that gives instructions on how to adjust your circadian rhythms … i.e. your body clock. With artificial light much more available than just a few generations ago, humans are shifting their bedtime later and later. For some people, that idea has gone overboard, with their bedtime being shifted to after midnight even though their wake-up time is still 6 a.m. If you want to be more of an early-to-bed person, and thus more awake and alert, here’s a sampling from the article’s tips:

  • Set your wake-up time — and then stick to it like glue.
  • Seek light.
  • Try melatonin.
  • Put yourself in a position where you can sleep.
