It's Brain Awareness Week, So Rest Your Brain

Did you know this week is Brain Awareness Week? Now you do! In honor of this week, an online brain traning company called ‘Luminosity’ has conducted research on some of the best and worst things for brain health. Sleep, of course, took the top spot.

Researchers tested subjects using math problems, online tests of memory, and even online games including video games, reading, and word games.  Results showed that for every extra hour of sleep, the test subjects solved 4% more math equations correctly, scored 4% higher on speed of completing tasks, and increased their spatial memory by 1.2%.

Even though most of us already know that sleep helps us to be more alert and feeling overall ready for the day, this study reminds us just how closely the brain and sleep cycle work together.
